Thank you for your interest in Matachica Resort and Spa.
We’re dedicated to make every detail of your stay with us unforgettable. In Belize, travelling by air, boat or ground is part of the journey during which you can appreciate amazing landscape, crystal-clear water, and cute villages.
The international airport is about halfway between Matachica and Gaia, which means that you can easily combine both destinations during the same trip. You can either start by the jungle or the beach: the travel between the two locations will be facilitated by Tropic Air – a local airline company – and a devoted staff that will be there to pick you up at any given time.
Don’t worry: We take care of everything. For our experienced team, putting these together is simple and a pleasure. So no worries-let us handle the details!
From the international airport located in Belize City, we strongly recommend that you fly directly to San Pedro Town. The fifteen-minute flight will offer the opportunity to admire the coral reef from above. Admiring the rays and sharks from the air through the crystal clear turquoise water is part of the astonishing charm of choosing San Pedro as your destination.
At San Pedro airstrip, one of our captains will pick you up and escort you on a five-minute drive you to the port. From there, you’ll hop on one of Matachica’s five speedboats and be whisked up the five miles of coastline to the resort.
Tropic Air is located directly in the arrival terminal of the international airport. The company is secure and offers daily departures on the hour.
From Matachica to Gaia (or the other way around)
Traveling from the Matachica to Gaia is easy since Belize is such a small country. The forty-five minute flight will take your breath away as you fly over coastline and the farms and mountains of western Belize. You might have a stop or two as the plane drops off or takes passengers on board, but you’ll quickly make your way to the Maya Flats airstrip in the Cayo District where a member of our staff will pick you up. The drive to Gaia is a one-hour guided tour of San Ignacio town and the Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve, and your driver, typically a certified guide, will be happy to share his local knowledge with you. You might even consider a stop along the way to enjoy a hands on Mayan chocolate or tortilla making or the art of Mayan ceramics in one of our local Mayan villages!
We know you’re coming from far and you can be assured that the trip will become a part of your adventure in Belize. It’s one of the perks of choosing such a diverse country!
As soon as your trip is planned, let us know all the details so we can make sure one of our guides and drivers is there to welcome you.
